Dutch self-propelled sprayer manufacturer Agrifac has "painted" a picture in a snow-covered paddock to demonstrate the accuracy of its spot spraying technology.
Using an environmentally friendly dye, the company loaded a task map into the GPS-controlled sprayer to create a 132 by 200 metre "painting" on the snowy field.
"This spraying technique is better for the environment (by reducing overall chemical use), is cost effective and is available for the grower to use now," a company spokesman said.
"Agrifac has been actively developing and supplying this technology since 2016. Worldwide, hundreds of self propelled sprayers are now equipped with this Agrifac technology.
"There are nozzles every 25cm on the boom which means the grower can spray on plant level.
"Each nozzle can dose independently. This is done with a fast-switching nozzle that switches on and off 100 times per second," the spokesman said.
The sprayer delivered a total 1635 litres at a maximum rate of 843 litres a hectare. The average rate was 525 litres a ha.
