Mareeba combined agents penned a total of 404 head at this week's prime and sore cattle sale, a decrease of 274 head on the previous week.
The yarding consisted of some good heavy bullocks which were firm to 1c/kg dearer and a few good heavy cows suitable for slaughter that were firm to 4c/kg cheaper.
Local trade heifers sold to 14c/kg dearer, local trade cows were 5c/kg cheaper and heavy bulls suitable for slaughter sold to 2c/kg dearer. Good quality store steers were 30c/kg dearer and good quality store heifers made a much stronger rate and sold up to 58c/kg dearer on the previous week.
The yarding consisted of 116 bulls averaging 166.9c/kg selling to a top of 289.2c/kg, 149 cows averaging 144.7c/kg selling to a top of 222.2c/kg, 49 heifers averaging 156.1c/kg selling to a top of 239.2c/kg, 56 steers averaging 238.2c/kg selling to a top of 294.2c.kg (best steer money for 2019), 11 yearling heifers averaging 159.3c/kg selling to a top of 188.2c/kg and 22 yearling heifers averaging 226.9c/kg selling to a top of 263.2c/kg.
